Dr. Brian Haggard is director of the Arkansas Water Resources Center of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, a post he’s held since 2008.

Haggard coordinates with researchers working on projects funded from sources including the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Geological Survey.

Haggard has more than more than a decade of experience in issues affecting water quality, including water quality chemistry, water quality monitoring and modeling, algal nutrient limitation and pollutant transport in aquatic systems.

Haggard has conducted dozens of studies involving water quality issues in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, including water quality monitoring in the Illinois River Watershed.

Haggard earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Rolla, a master's degree from the University of Arkansas and his Ph.D. in biosystems engineering from Oklahoma State University.

He is a professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and is president (October 2013 – September 2014) of the National Institutes for Water Resources.
